Training Schedule

New Basic Community Mediation Training

This new training is an alternative pathway to becoming a mediator–it does not lead to Virginia Supreme Court Certification but does lead to qualification to mediate Community Mediation cases as well as Police-Referred Mediation cases.   We’ve designed it in four 4-hour blocks (16 hours total) to be followed by two observations and 5 co-mediations with an experienced Community Mediator.

May 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2025 from 1 PM to 5 PM.   This training is free to individuals who commit to joining our mediation center initiatives.  Please email christina@mediationcville.org for more information or to apply.

Continuing Mediator Education (CME)

Presentations and workshops approved by DRS for CME credit are periodically scheduled on topics relevant to mediation and mediator education.

Fundamentals of Elder Mediation & Decision-Making:  a 13 hour training sponsored by MCC and Piedmont Peace Center (PPC).  February 28, 2025 from 1 to 7:30 PM, and Saturday March 1 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  This in-person training will be held in Charlottesville.  The fee for registrants not affiliated with MCC or PPC is $400.  To register or for more information email director@mediationcville.org.

Note: If you pay by check for any class and it is returned for insufficient funds, a $30 fee is owed in addition to the full class fee. If you must cancel attending a class 5 or more business days prior to the class start date and have paid your tuition in full, your tuition will be returned by check less a 15% class materials and administrative charge. Please give us notice of cancellation by e-mail or in writing and include the amount that was paid, when it was paid, the attendees’ USPS mailing address and phone number. Please, no phone or voice mail cancellations as they will not be accepted. Cancellations within 5 business days prior to the class start shall result in no refund, but the fee payment by the attendee may be held over to the next time the course is offered by MCC. A business day consists of the period between 9 am and 4 pm, Monday through Thursday, except holidays, when MCC is open for business. Communications received during a business day, but after 4 pm, regarding class attendance shall be considered as being received the next business day when MCC is open for business. MCC may have to cancel a class if paid registrations do not meet the minimum necessary, and MCC will e-mail attendees if such cancellation occurs. Paid fees will be refunded in full if MCC has to cancel the class unless a new date is scheduled within two months, in which case the option of rolling over payments will be offered. Please call the office at 434-977-2926 between Monday and Thursday and between 9 am and 3 pm if you have questions.
