Community Mediation can assist with conflicts that arise between neighbors, or between residents and businesses, or tenants and landlords. We can help with roommate disagreements, and with conflicts involving noise, pets, parking etc.
Police-Referred Mediation can assist the police to address disputes that they are called to address, that they deem better suited to mediation. Once police have made a referral, our community mediators step in to help resolve the dispute.
Our community mediators are specially trained to provide an environment for each party to discuss their point of view and will keep the conversation on track respectfully. They assist parties to identify all the issues and brainstorm potential solutions. If an agreement is reached, they write it up and send it to the parties, who may have it reviewed by legal counsel before signing if desired. Please contact our office for more information if you think mediation might be the answer you’ve been looking for in your housing or neighbor struggle.
With thanks to the City of Charlottesville and the US Department of Justice we are able to provide free or low-cost mediations for residents of Charlottesville and the surrounding counties.
